Focus, and do it - State Titles

Sometimes I get in a rut where I swear I am looking at my sights, but still cant call bad shots. Often I only think I am looking at them, but other times I really am, right up until I finger starts squeezing, then my brain switches off for that split second. You need to put extra effort into focusing on the sights. It is not good enough to look at them. Focus! Concentrate!

Stop Trying

I have been playing around with different ways of thinking.  Trying to think of what I should do but only thinking of scores and thinking that I need to make it perfect.  Some of my best series come from a relaxed but focused mind.  I am not trying to make it good, I am not trying to think about what I am doing, I am just doing it.

So I  am going to try that for a while again.  Scores dont matter, take the nike motto, just do it.

Don't Forget

Don't forget the essential basics to pistol shooting.  Today I seemed to loose focus on the sights a lot.  You need to REALLY look and focus on those sights.

Focus

Are you looking at the sights? Are you REALLY looking at the sights? Thats what I think I need to ask myself each time I take aim for a shot. The difference between really looking at your sights and just thinking your looking at the sights is very noticable. The problem is when you think you are, obviously you believe you are, its not until you really do that you notice.

Slow Down

One thing I notice the other day was the difference in the time taken to pan from one target to the next. During a 4 seconds series occasionaly I will whip my arm/body accross to the next target in practically no time at all, causing me to come too far over, then over correct and be not far enough. Once a bad shot like this has happened you can bet your eyes will be at the target for the next one.

damn scores

I shot 574 today. Ever since I shot that 583 I have been putting pressure on myself to do it again, so I have been telling myself since Wednesday that I can only shoot as good as I can do at the time, score means nothing, as long as I execute perfect technique each time then whatever the score is is what I have to settle for.
